Governor Seyi Makinde, The “Aare Alagbado” Of Botswana | Sola Abegunde

While Governor Seyi Makinde and his followers were entertaining the world with different dance steps to their now usual ” were” lyrics, we, on our own part, were busy engaged in very positive assignments.

On my part, I was at the Judicial Commission of Inquiry to speak to the Memorandum I submitted to the Commission.

I used the opportunity of my appearance to draw the attention of the Commission to very critical issues like, the lack of synergy between the Oyo state Government and the Federal Government before, during and after the unfortunate incident at Yawota and Esinele communities of Oriire Local Government. I was emphatic about the fact that Governor Seyi Makinde was responsible for the failure of communication between the Oyo state Government and the presidency.

I referenced the alarm raised by the Honourable member representing Oriire State Constituency in the Oyo state House of Assembly long before the Bandits attacked Oriire Local Government and the fact that it was the responsibility of the state Government to have taken steps to inform the Federal Government at that particular point in time.

I emphasized on the fact that Oyo state Government would have been better, having drones instead of the Aircrafts purchased with billions of Naira and which were useless when the Bandits attacked again at Oke-Ogun very recently.

I told the Commission that it should be a matter of responsibility for Governor Seyi Makinde to shed his immunity and appear before the Commission to shed lights on what exactly he knows about the kidnapping and the rescue operation, to have warranted his call for a United Nations probe.

I went further to draw the attention of the Commission to the fact that it is crucial at this point, to ask the Governor, how he treated the information given by the Honourable member representing Oriire State Constituency in the Oyo state House of Assembly.

Not only that, I told the Commission that Debo Ogundoyin, the Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly should be invited to tell the world, where and how he came about the list of demands by the Bandits which he carelessly made public and which the Bandits eventually denied.

I was of the strong view that the only individual who could have gotten the privilege of having such a highly classified information was, perhaps, the Governor of Oyo state and that, such a sensitive information, if at all, it existed, is not one that the Governor was expected to have treated with carelessness by sharing with the Speaker, or anyone for that matter.

I opined that Debo Ogundoyin does fall into the category of Government officials who could have been privileged to have access to such a sensitive information in the first place, not to talk of him, sharing the information with the public, to the extent that the Bandits had to deny it.

I explained the dangers associated with the action of the Oyo state Speaker, stressing that the Bandits could have reacted violently, but we were only lucky.

I talked about the explosion at Bodija and how the Government of Oyo state handled the case of the Malian who was allegedly accused of being behind the explosion and I called for an extension of the assignment of the Commission to cover the explosion at Bodija. ( I didn’t discuss the missing 30bn. The Commission is not the right place to discuss that. So, the Governor could rest a bit on that one for now).

However, I invited the attention of the Commission to the fact that the Amotekun Corp are poorly designed, trained and equipped and that the Governor must accept responsibilities for his failings at Oriire Local Government.

I have done my part. I challenge Governor Seyi Makinde to stop hiding behind his immunity and go before the Commission to also do his part.

I also challenge the Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly to do the same.

Now, to the jamboree of yesterday. The organizers tagged the show JAF/BOYE NATION so and so. I think they should have labeled the show ” A Day Of The Were Dance steps”, because, there were actually a lot of that yesterday.

An Ibadan Fuji artiste, the originator of the ” were” lyrics was always punctuating every speech with the now synonymous music within the Makinde political circle.

I was so certain that there would be plenty of entertainment yesterday. Most especially, from the stables of Governor Seyi Makinde, who is seriously challenging for the honor of grand puppeteer. Unfortunately, I missed most of the actions as they unfolded real time, but, trust social media. I didn’t miss a gist.

One of the many side attractions of the program that caught my attention was Governor Seyi Makinde’s lazy attempt at explaining his failures regarding the Light Up Oyo Project.

According to the Governor, his failures in this regard was caused by president Tinubu’s alleged failure to tackle the problem in the power sector.

When I heard him spewing that kind of balderdash, I asked myself, what is wrong again? Unfortunately, there was no one conscious enough to draw his attention to the fact that Tinubu was not the president when he awarded the failed contract for the Light Up Oyo Project!

Could it be that the very thick aroma of banned substance at the venue actually affected everyone including the Governor, or could it be that the spirit of the lyrics, ” were la fi nwo were” was already at work? How could everyone just lose their consciousness at the same time?

I also asked, how many of Governor Seyi Makinde’s failed promises should we talk about?

Should we forget the promise of the exportation of maize to Botswana?

I was even wondering why the Government and people of Botswana have not considered giving our Governor a Chieftaincy Title.

He deserves it. He brought the South African Country into our consciousness, at least and if he is honored for that purpose, what is wrong with that?

I will suggest the Title of the ” Aare Alagbado of Botswana”.

I was also amused by the narrative of their” Radio Man Friday “. He kept referring to the crowd at the Adamasingba Stadium as ” very massive ” and he didn’t miss the opportunity to emphasize the negative effects the ” massive crowd” of yesterday would have on the All Progressives Congress, APC.

When he kept repeating, ” massive crowd”, ” massive crowd”, I asked someone, did this fellow take a headcount of the number of people in that Stadium?

Was he able to separate fun seekers who just came into the venue to catch a glimpse of their favorite artiste from the ” massive crowd”?

Was he able to even know the exact number of people at the event?

Was he able to identify members of the Allied People’s Movement, APM from those who decamped with Boye and other decampees?

I have said it before now. If you make it your habit to deceive others, you won’t know the time you will begin to deceive yourself. ( Maa dinyin nso…).

By the way, former Governor Nyesom Wike has dropped another bomb.

He claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the man Governor Seyi Makinde loves to denigrate at every opportunity, actually supported the Government of Oyo state with a whooping amount of 50bn for the upgrading of the Alakia Airport!

Governor Seyi Makinde, is this true? I will be disappointed if it is true.

Why is it that it is from outsiders that we always heard of this kind of presidential interventions in Oyo state?

We are yet to resolve the argument about the 30bn Federal Government support for the victims of the Bodija explosion.

Governor Seyi Makinde must address this issue immediately. This is not one of the issues you hand over to a crowd of half baked online crowd.

We demand personal explanations from the Governor. The upgrading of the Alakia Airport is one of the projects Governor Seyi Makinde had been bragging about.

Did he actually get a substantial amount for the execution of the project from Tinubu?

I also think that Governor Seyi Makinde deserves to be appointed as the Chief spokesperson for the Bimbo Adekambi gubernatorial campaign. Why not? He deserves it. He has thrusted the feeding bottle too deep into the throat of the candidate. So, why shouldn’t he just combine the responsibilities of being the chief spokesperson for Bimbo with his presidential ambition?
