Arapaja’s Supporters Pass Vote of Confidence in Him, Slam Makinde’s Leadership Style, Hint at Political Realignment

Stakeholders and loyalists of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the party’s Acting National Secretary and presumed 2027 governorship aspirant, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, have passed a vote of confidence in his leadership while strongly criticizing Governor Seyi Makinde’s style of governance and party administration.

The resolutions were reached at a crucial stakeholders’ meeting convened by Arapaja and attended by party faithful and political associates from across the state.

The forum unanimously reaffirmed its confidence in Ambassador Arapaja, describing him as a seasoned politician with an impeccable record of leadership, integrity, and commitment to the growth of the party. Participants lauded his contributions to the PDP and his standing as a prominent figure within the revered Molete political family.

The stakeholders also expressed dissatisfaction with Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership of the party in the state, accusing him of sidelining party elders and neglecting their contributions to the PDP’s successes over the years. They further alleged that several political understandings reached with party leaders and loyalists had not been honored.

The meeting observed that recent judicial pronouncements and internal crises have further weakened the PDP in Oyo State, raising concerns about the party’s capacity to remain a formidable political force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Consequently, the stakeholders advised Ambassador Arapaja to carefully consider alternative political options should the prevailing circumstances within the PDP remain unresolved. They maintained that any future political platform must guarantee fairness, inclusiveness, and adequate protection of the interests of members and the people of Oyo State.

Reaffirming their commitment to the former Deputy Governor, the stakeholders pledged their unwavering loyalty to his leadership and declared their readiness to support any political direction he may eventually adopt in pursuit of the collective aspirations of his supporters.

The forum also cautioned individuals allegedly engaging in public attacks against Ambassador Arapaja, urging them to desist from actions capable of deepening divisions within the party and the state’s political landscape.
