Oriire Rescue: Youth Council Hails Federal, State Governments, Lauds Security Agencies

The Oriire Youth Council (OYC) has commended the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, and security agencies for securing the release of the pupils, teachers, and other victims abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement made available to journalists, the council described the rescue of the victims as a welcome development that has brought relief and renewed hope to families, residents, and the entire Oriire community.
The council expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, and all security operatives involved in the rescue operation for their commitment and coordinated efforts, which led to the safe return of the victims.
According to the council, the successful rescue demonstrates the importance of synergy among security agencies and government institutions in addressing insecurity and protecting citizens.
The youth body recalled that shortly after the abduction incident, a delegation of the Oriire Youth Council visited the affected community to sympathize with residents, assess the situation firsthand, and express solidarity with the families of the victims. During the visit, the delegation also engaged relevant stakeholders and called for urgent security intervention to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
While celebrating the release of the victims, the council urged the government not to relent in its efforts to tackle security challenges within the local government area.
Specifically, the council renewed its call for enhanced security presence across Oriire Local Government, particularly around the Old Oyo National Park axis and other vulnerable communities that have become susceptible to criminal activities due to their difficult terrain and proximity to forest reserves.
The council emphasized that sustainable peace and security in the area would require continuous surveillance, intelligence gathering, improved logistics for security personnel, and stronger collaboration between local communities and security agencies.
It further noted that the recent incident underscores the need for proactive measures rather than reactive responses, stressing that the safety of residents, schoolchildren, farmers, and travelers should remain a priority for all levels of government.
The Oriire Youth Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security, and development within the local government area, while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could help prevent criminal activities.
The council concluded by expressing appreciation to all individuals, community leaders, government officials, and security personnel whose efforts contributed to the safe rescue of the victims, describing the development as a victory for the entire Oriire community.
