President Tinubu Receives Olubadan at Aso Rock
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday, January 23, 2026, received the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, formed part of the President’s ongoing engagements with traditional rulers across the country, underscoring the administration’s recognition of the critical role of traditional institutions in national unity, peacebuilding, and grassroots development.
Although details of the discussions were not disclosed as of the time of filing this report, the visit is widely viewed as significant, given Ibadanland’s historical, cultural, and political importance in Oyo State and the South-West region.
Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State and a respected statesman, ascended the throne as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland and has continued to command respect both within and beyond the traditional institution.
Observers note that the meeting may not be unconnected with issues of regional development, security, traditional governance, and national cohesion, especially at a time when the Federal Government is strengthening collaboration with traditional rulers to support its Renewed Hope Agenda.
Further details of the meeting are expected to be made public in due course.
