Oriire Youth Council Begins PVC Registration, Trains Volunteers Saturday
The Oriire Youth Council (OYC) has announced its full readiness to host the much-anticipated Training and Commissioning of PVC Online Registration Volunteers, scheduled for Saturday, 29th November 2025, at the Legislative Building, Oriire Local Government Secretariat, Ikoyi-Ile.
According to the Council, preparations for the exercise have reached advanced stages, following weeks of consultations and coordination with traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and community leaders across the ten wards of Oriire.
In what has been described as one of the most coordinated grassroots civic interventions in recent times, the Council disclosed that over forty (40) volunteers is being nominated from across the local government. These young volunteers will be trained to assist residents with:
- New Voter Registration
- Voter Relocation
- Correction of Personal Data
- Replacement of Lost or Damaged PVCs
The initiative aims to reduce the stress experienced by residents—especially those in hard-to-reach villages—who would otherwise travel long distances to the INEC office for these services.
Speaking on the development, the PRO I of the Oriire Youth Council – Ajadi Isaac noted that the training is part of the Council’s long-standing commitment to civic inclusion and community development.
“Our people deserve easier access to voter services. By empowering these volunteers, we are bringing INEC-related support closer to the grassroots. It is a community-driven effort inspired by our belief in responsibility, service, and participation,” he said.
The Council also confirmed that invitations have been extended to key stakeholders, including the Executive Chairman of Oriire Local Government, Hon. Michael Alabi Olateju, Hon. Johnson Ogundele Akin, member representing Oriire State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly and the Honourable Member Representing Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, and Oriire Federal Constituency, Hon. Ayodeji Alao Akala.
The event will include orientation sessions, technical training, commissioning of volunteers, and an official unveiling of the community outreach plan for the PVC assistance project at the popular Iluju market.
With the growing anticipation and support from community stakeholders, the Oriire Youth Council reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the training sets a strong foundation for a seamless, accessible voter registration experience for every resident of Oriire.
