WHY OWOLABI IN 2027?

Having been actively involved in the political ecosystem for nearly two decades, I have been privileged to see, learn, and understand what it truly means to positively adapt to the system. As a young man, I witnessed the military era in Nigeria—an era where one could freely express an opinion but was never certain of freedom afterward. I have also lived through the fragility of our democracy at its return in 1999: the “winner-takes-all” politics, the painful realities of political assassinations, and the struggle to define what governance truly meant for the people.

Today, I have equally seen how our democracy has evolved into what can best be described as an elite-driven outcome—an era that calls for courageous, people-oriented representation.

Ogbomoso North State Constituency has, since 1999, been represented by notable sons and daughters of the land: Hon. Olu-Oyeleye (late), Hon. Segun Alata, Hon. Ayoola AmosAdeleke (late), Hon. (Mrs.) Oladeji Bimbo, and the incumbent member. Their tenures have each shaped our political story in unique ways.

My first interest in the state assembly seat was 2015, but the environment seems not conducive enough and so, the ambition was stepped down. While in 2019, I threw my heart into the ring again under the leadership of an illustrious son of Ogbomoso, a statesman whose legacy remains indelible—Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala. It was a fierce internal contest within the Randa political family. Eventually, I was persuaded, in the spirit of unity and loyalty, to step down for a big sister—one for whom we labored day and night. Her victory at the polls was, indeed, uncontestable.

The sudden passing of our patriarch, Otunba Alao-Akala, in January 2022, caused a major political shift ahead of the 2023 elections. Once again, I humbly aligned with the decision of the party, channeling my energy, resources, and loyalty to the collective interest of the All Progressives Congress (APC), because I have come to understand and respect the supremacy of the party.

As we approach another defining moment in 2027, I, Owolabi Sayo Peter, once again offer myself to serve as the representative of Ogbomoso North State Constituency under the platform of the APC.

This time, I come with the maturity of time, depth of experience, and clarity of purpose. I have remained a loyal party man, a patient political student, and a committed servant of the people. I am prepared—spiritually, mentally, and emotionally—to shoulder the responsibilities that come with representing my people with integrity, empathy, and accountability.

Ogbomoso North deserves a voice that is firm yet fair, humble yet courageous, and visionary yet people-centered.
