UI Students’ Union Dissociates Self from Odidiomo-Planned Legislative Summit

The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UISU) has dissociated itself from the planned Students’ Legislative Summit scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, on Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

In a notice dated September 22 and signed by the Students’ Union President, Temidayo S. Adeboye, the Union stated that it had taken note of the programme but had not authorised any representation of the Students’ Union at the event.

The Union further clarified that the University of Ibadan Management had not endorsed the programme and that no representative of the university management would attend the event.

According to the statement, the Union said it was unable to assure students of the intentions, structure and implications of the programme, urging students to exercise caution and refrain from attending or participating in the summit.

The Students’ Union explained that the decision was informed by its responsibility to protect the welfare, dignity and safety of its members, particularly where circumstances surrounding a programme raise concerns that cannot be sufficiently addressed.

It consequently urged members of the University of Ibadan student community to take the notice seriously and exercise appropriate caution.

The development comes amid plans for the legislative summit reportedly associated with Odidiomo. The Students’ Union, however, made clear that the event should not be regarded as a programme organised or represented by the University of Ibadan Students’ Union.
