2027:Oriire Youth Council Meets Oyo Assembly Leaders, Secures Pledges of Support for Ongoing Voter Sensitization Campaign

In what can best be described as a productive day of civic engagement and political bridge-building, the Oriire Youth Council met with two prominent lawmakers at the Oyo State House of Assembly to discuss partnership and support for its ongoing voter sensitization drive across Oriire Local Government.

The meetings, which held simultaneously at the residences of Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, the Majority Leader of the House, and Hon. Johnson Ogundele, member representing Oriire State Constituency, offered both encouragement and strong endorsement for the Council’s current efforts—particularly its grassroots campaign to increase voter participation and registration in the local government area.

Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin warmly received the delegation and commended the Youth Council’s ongoing PVC Drive, describing it as “a bold step in the right direction.”

“Youths like you are the hope of Oriire. Keep up the resilience. The result you are expecting lies ahead,” he said.

The Majority Leader pledged to support the Council with logistical materials to aid the success of the sensitization exercise and encouraged the team not to relent in its momentum.

The Council also used the occasion to advocate for more inclusion of competent youths and PDP members from Oriire in government appointments and board nominations. Hon. Adedoyin assured them that their plea would be given priority in ongoing political considerations.

In a separate but parallel meeting, Hon. Johnson Ogundele—representing Oriire at the State House—praised the voter mobilization drive and expressed confidence in its impact.

“If we do this right, the electoral demography of Oriire will skyrocket. And that would open doors to more political recognition and development,” he noted.

He described the initiative as one that could reshape the narrative of Oriire, and pledged his full backing to ensure its success.

Members of the Oriire Youth Council delegation also spoke passionately during the visits:

Hon. Sarafadeen Owonikoko Isiaq, Chairman of the Council, said:
“This is not just an event; it is a movement. We want to wake up our wards, towns, and unions to know their votes are their voices. And we’re grateful to our leaders for receiving us with such hope.”

Comrade Folasade Akanji Oluwatobiloba, Vice Chairman II, added:
“For us as young leaders, this isn’t about politics; it’s about progress. Women and young girls must also rise and register. This drive must carry everyone along.”

Comrade Ojo Oluwasegun Emmanuel, PRO II, emphasized the media role:
“We’ll take the message to the markets, churches, mosques, and online platforms. The campaign doesn’t stop until we reach everyone of voting age.”

Comrade Ajala Oluwaseun Babatunde, Assistant National Secretary, said:
“We’re not just talking PVCs—we are talking power. The power to be counted, to influence resource allocation, and attract development.”

Comrade Joshua Ojo Aderemi, Member representing Oriire Youths at the Oyo State Youth Parliament, stated:
“This is the kind of synergy that makes governance work—from the youth to the legislature. The momentum is real, and Oriire will be better for it.”

Aremu Gideon, Ward 9 Representative, added:
“The grassroots is listening. Our people want change—and they want to be led by those who understand their pain.”

Areo Stephen, Secretary for Ward 2, said:
“Our strategy is local and personal. This isn’t billboard politics—this is face-to-face transformation.”

Phebian Jacob Akorede, Financial Secretary, shared:
“We’re not doing this with big budgets, but with big hearts and bold ideas.”

Aluko Tosin, Secretary for Ward 3, added:
“Each new voter is a new voice for Oriire. That’s what drives us.”

The Youth Council will continue its advocacy and partnership meetings in the coming days. Scheduled visits include:

  • The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Oriire office
  • The National Orientation Agency (NOA)
  • The Department of Education at the Oriire LG Secretariat

These meetings, planned for the 30th of this month, aim to formalize collaboration and gather relevant registration timelines, technical materials, and publicity strategies.

Also pending are response dates from:

  • Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, House of Reps member for Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire,
  • Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, and
  • The PDP and APC state secretariats in Ibadan

As the PVC drive gains momentum, the Oriire Youth Council believes that 2024 marks the turning point in the political identity of the local government.

With consistent effort, cooperation from elected leaders, and unity among Oriire youths, the Council is confident that the 10-Year Development Agenda (2024–2034) will not only bring Oriire to the front burner—but establish it as a beacon of youth-driven governance in Oyo State.
