Seyi Makinde, A Mockery Of The Elderly And The Energy To Steal Public Funds

At this point and I really mean it, Governor Seyi Makinde requires prayers and special attention. ( Gomina nilo abojuto).

In practical terms, those who are close to him have a serious decision to make.

As a Boxing Coach, if your fighter has been beaten beyond hope by the opponent, but, is bent on dying inside the Boxing ring, the only sensible option open to you is to throw in the towel.

I think members of the immediate family of our Governor needs to do something urgent and critical to save the situation.

Before now, he had been saying all manner of balderdash against Lawyers who are not Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN.

To Governor Seyi Makinde, such Lawyers are failures.

Interestingly, all the Lawyers serving in his Cabinet, beginning from the Deputy Governor, are not Senior Advocate of Nigeria before they were either elected or appointed and I think, only the Attorney general of Oyo state had attained the status of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN after he was appointed.

Most interestingly, the Governor of the old Oyo state, under whose Administration, Governor Makinde enjoyed free education, the late Chief John Ajibola Ige was not a Senior Advocate of Nigeria when he was Governor.

According to the analogy by Governor Seyi Makinde, Bola Ige was a failed Lawyer by the time he was elected Governor of the old Oyo state.

However, the same failed Lawyer gave Governor Makinde the opportunity of free education, without which, he might, perhaps, not be a Governor today.

This evening, I saw a video of Governor Seyi Makinde mocking the elderly at Akure.

During his South West Town Hall meeting at the capital of Ondo state, Governor Seyi Makinde told his supporters that any presidential candidate who could not jump from a high ground must be rejected by voters.

If Governor Seyi Makinde’s late father had been alive today, I wonder what he would have been thinking about his son who is mocking the old and the elderly just because he thought he was throwing a jab at political opponents.

In Oyo state, one of Governor Makinde’s strongest support base are the retirees.

These Group of retired civil servants comprise of elderly men and women.

I wonder how they would feel, listening to Governor Seyi Makinde, painting the elderly as a Group of useless individuals.

I laughed when I heard the Governor of Oyo state spoke about energy and I asked myself, what energy is he talking about?

Pa. Adekunle Ajasin of blessed memories was a retired Teacher by the time he was elected as the Governor of the Old Ondo state.

Apart from the fact that he performed creditably well as the Governor of the old Ondo state, he was also known to be incorruptible.

I am not sure that the late Adekunle Ajasin would have been able to jump from the podium where Governor Seyi Makinde was performing acrobatics this afternoon, but, yet, he remains one of the best Governors in Nigeria.

Governor Seyi Makinde is very energetic no doubt, but, what has he been dissipating his energy on since the past seven years plus that he has been elected as Governor of Oyo state?

Has he not been dissipating his energy on stealing public funds?

Like I said, this gentleman, Governor Seyi Makinde has completely lost it.

The rate at which he has been going about making all manner of irresponsible comments is becoming worrisome.

As a citizen of Oyo state, I am worried that such an individual is the first citizen of my state. Someone who does not have control over his tongue and emotions.

The other time, he said Tinubu is withholding 250 billion Naira NLNG Dividends belonging to the States and at another time, he said, oh, no. That is not what I said. What I’m saying is that, successive Administrations have withheld the money, Tinubu’s Government inclusive.

You now ask yourself, how many Governors has the Federation of Nigeria produced since 1999 to date?

Why is it that it is only Governor Seyi Makinde who is carrying it upon his head to fight for all the Governors of Nigeria, past and present?

What exactly is wrong with this man? What? Why are the people around him comfortable with him, making a mockery of himself all over the place?

Honestly, I’m worried. Shall we say that the ” were, ” were” they are singing all about is beginning to take its toll?

I know that Governor Seyi Makinde is afraid about what would become of him after leaving office.

He must be. His tracks are covered with dirt, but, is this the way to go about his fears?

By the Grace of God Almighty, we will have the presidential election next January and Tinubu will be victorious yet again regardless of how low Governor Seyi Makinde chose to go.

Not only that, Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli will also be elected as Governor of Oyo state in 2027 by the Grace of God Almighty.

As for Governor Seyi Makinde, he will account for his misdeeds of eight years and that is sacrosanct.

I am a Yoruba man. I am aware that our culture teaches us to respect the elderly because we are also going to become old like them one day.

I do not think Governor Seyi Makinde respects such tradition.

I pray that God grants Governor Seyi Makinde and all of us long life.

Perhaps, at hundred years of age, Governor Seyi Makinde would still be running marathons all over the world.

Like I said, I’m a Yoruba man and I will forever respect the elderly.

E wole f’agba. Agba nii gba ni.

Sola Abegunde.
