Ejidiran Declares for Oyo Assembly Seat, Vows People-Centered Leadership in Akinyele I
Ibadan, Oyo State — Friday
A chieftain and grassroots mobiliser, Kayode Ejidiran, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Akinyele Constituency 1 seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly, pledging to deliver purposeful and people-driven representation.
Ejidiran made the declaration on Friday, describing the moment as “a defining point” in his personal journey and in the political future of the constituency.
According to him, his decision followed years of engagement with residents across the constituency, during which he said he became deeply aware of their challenges, aspirations, and the need for more responsive leadership.
He noted that his interactions with various segments of the constituency—including youths, market women, and community elders—had strengthened his resolve to seek elective office.
The aspirant lamented what he described as unmet expectations and a disconnect between the people and governance, stressing the need for leadership that listens, understands, and acts in the interest of the people.
Ejidiran said his ambition was driven by a desire to serve rather than personal gain, emphasizing that his focus would be on amplifying the voices of constituents and facilitating development across communities.
He promised to prioritize youth empowerment, support for women, and infrastructural and social development, while also working to ensure that governance becomes more accessible and responsive to the people.
“I am stepping forward with humility and courage to be a voice for the voiceless and a bridge between the people and government,” he stated.
Calling for collective support, Ejidiran urged residents of Akinyele Constituency 1 to see his aspiration as a shared movement aimed at building a better future for all.
He added that his campaign, themed “Itura ’27,” represents hope and a commitment to inclusive progress, declaring that “the son of nobody will become somebody.”
The declaration signals the early buildup to the 2027 general elections in Oyo State, with political activities gradually gaining momentum across constituencies.
