APC, PDP Hail Oriire Youth Council’s PVC Sensitization, Pledges Support For Upcoming Stakeholders’ Summit

The Oriire Youth Council (OYC) on Sunday held strategic meetings with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Oriire Local Government, Ogbomoso, as part of its efforts to build synergy ahead of its ongoing PVC sensitization drive and the upcoming second edition of the #OriireFirst Stakeholders’ Summit scheduled to hold at Jegbe Town-Hall, Ikoyi-Ile, Oriire’s headquarters. The PVC drive, jointly initiated with the Ogbomoso Descendants Development Association (ODDA) under the directive of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye (Orumogege III), aims to increase the total number of registered voters in Oriire from about 65,000 to over 100,000 before the end of 2025. This aligns with ODDA’s zonal goal of raising voter registration across the five local governments of Ogbomoso zone from about 400,000 to over one million.OYC delegates first met with APC leaders at the Whot Club, Takie area of Ogbomoso, before proceeding to Parrot FM for a live radio session, and later rounding up with the PDP leadership at the residence of the newly elected PDP Chairman in the Blind-Centre area of Ogbomoso. *APC’s Position* APC Party Chairman in Oriire, Prince Lukman Ayuba, praised OYC for its developmental zeal, urging the council to sustain its neutrality:“Youths must remain non-partisan in their activities if they want to maintain credibility and public trust. The PVC Drive and the #OriireFirst Summit are noble causes, and I assure you that APC leaders will rally support and mobilize our members to attend the summit.”He was joined by APC Party Secretary, Prince Oladiran Oyekanmi, and other party leaders including Hon. Adesina Gabriel Adeboye and Hon. Ezekiel Bamikole, who all endorsed the youth-led advocacy for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Oriire. *PDP’s Position* At the PDP meeting, the newly elected Party Chairman of Oriire Local Government, Hon. Oyelade Gabriel Olatunde (Tunde Oloya), commended OYC’s initiatives and pledged collaboration: “We are building a formidable PDP structure in Oriire, not just for politics but to advance economic transformation, infrastructure development, and political representation. We will support OYC’s efforts because Oriire must not continue to lag behind.”The PDP team included Hon. Adekunle Timothy, newly elected Party Secretary, and Hon. Olawale Janet, former Women Leader, who both expressed readiness to mobilize PDP stakeholders to the summit. *OYC’s Appeal* National Chairman of OYC, Sarafadeen Isiaq Owonikoko, reiterated the purpose of the engagements: “Our goal is to unite all stakeholders — traditional, political, and religious — to put Oriire First. The PVC drive and the summit are platforms for repositioning our local government in economic prosperity, education, infrastructure, and political participation.”Ex-Officio I of OYC and Youth Parliament Member, Joshua Ojo Aderemi, explained the structure being set up for voter mobilization: “With over 800 towns and villages in Oriire, our work requires structure. Forty grassroots youths — drawn from all wards and zones — will be equipped to lead online registrations before residents proceed to INEC for biometrics. This will help us break voter apathy and raise our figures above 100,000.”Financial Secretary of OYC, Jacob Phebian Akorede, emphasized accountability in managing the support being provided by ODDA and other partners, while Ajala Oluwaseun, Assistant National Secretary, said the group’s non-partisan approach is key to sustaining broad-based trust across all divides. The live session on Parrot FM allowed the council to sensitize the wider Oriire populace, encouraging all indigenes and residents to actively participate in the PVC registration exercise and prepare to attend the upcoming stakeholders’ summit.
