Suspension: Senate Reopens Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Office
The National Assembly on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, officially reopened the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.In a video released the same day, the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, was seen unlocking and declaring the office open. The office had been sealed since her suspension earlier this year.Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, was suspended under controversial circumstances by the Senate leadership. The reopening of her office marks a significant development in the matter. It follows sustained public criticism and pressure from civil society groups over the fairness of her suspension.Although the Senate leadership has not issued a fresh statement, the unsealing of the office indicates a decisive step towards restoring the senator’s full legislative privileges.
