Oriire Youth Council Mourns Baale Olóka’s Death, Consoles Olóka Community

The Oriire Youth Council (OYC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Akande Ogundijo Alagbe, the esteemed Community Leader (Baale) of Oloka, headquarters of Ward 5 in Oriire Local Government, who passed away last week after a brief illness.

In a statement released by the Council, the leadership described the late Baale as “a pillar of wisdom, unity, and cultural integrity”, noting that his death is a tremendous loss not only to his immediate family, the Ole S’Okonun family of Oloka, but to the entire Oriire community.

Speaking on behalf of the Council, the National Chairman, Hon. Sarafadeen Owonikoko, paid glowing tribute to the late Chief Alagbe:

“Baale Akande Ogundijo Alagbe was a leader who genuinely cared for the progress of his people. His guidance, fairness, and fatherly presence contributed immensely to the peace and development of Oloka and its surrounding communities. The Oriire Youth Council mourns with heavy hearts, but we also celebrate a life of honour and service. We pray that God grants the Ole S’Okonun family the strength to bear this painful loss.”

Also speaking, the Public Relations Officer of the Council described the late Baale as a firm supporter of youth development and community progress:

“Chief Akande Ogundijo Alagbe was a man who believed strongly in the role of young people in nation-building. He welcomed our initiatives, encouraged our presence in Oloka, and always insisted that the future of Oriire depends on unity and collective responsibility. His death is a personal loss to us at OYC. We stand in solidarity with the Ole S’Okonun family and the entire Ward 5 community during this difficult moment.”

The Council further prayed for comfort for the family, wisdom for the community leadership as they navigate this transition, and eternal rest for the departed elder.

The Oriire Youth Council describes the late Baale as “a leader whose footprints will remain on the sands of time”.
