INEC Registration: Emperor Idogbe Canvasses Ogooluwa / Surulere Residents, Says “Getting Your Voter’s Card is the First Step to Transforming Nigeria”

Emperor Idogbe has called on residents of Ogooluwa and Surulere local government areas to seize the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as a golden opportunity to shape the destiny of Nigeria. He emphasized that the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) remains the most powerful tool for citizens to influence governance and bring about meaningful change.

Speaking on the importance of voter registration, Idogbe reminded Nigerians that democracy thrives when the people actively participate in choosing their leaders. According to him, “Your voter’s card is not just a piece of plastic. It is your voice, your right, and your power. Without it, you cannot be heard at the ballot box.”

He stressed that every vote counts, noting that one single vote could determine who represents the people at local, state, or national levels. He added that registering to vote is not only a civic responsibility but also a constitutional right that must be exercised by all eligible citizens.

Highlighting the ongoing voter registration exercise, Idogbe explained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced registration across the country to capture new voters, replace lost cards, update personal details, and allow transfers for those who have relocated. He encouraged first-time voters, especially youths who have just turned 18, to take advantage of the opportunity and register early.

“INEC has made the process simple,” he noted. “You can begin online through the portal at cvr.inecnigeria.org and then complete your registration physically at the nearest INEC office. Registration is free, and no one should pay a dime to get registered.”

Idogbe further outlined that prospective voters must present valid identification, such as a national ID card, passport, driver’s license, or birth certificate, before proceeding for biometric capture, which includes fingerprints and a photograph.

While reminding citizens that the exercise runs Mondays to Fridays, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (excluding public holidays), he cautioned against waiting until the election season, saying that last-minute rush often leads to unnecessary stress and disenfranchisement.

In his words, “Getting your voter’s card is the first step to transforming Nigeria. It is a decision that will influence policies on education, healthcare, jobs, agriculture, and security. Without your PVC, you surrender your power and your voice.”

Idogbe also appealed to families, community leaders, and youth groups to mobilize their members and ensure mass participation in the registration exercise.

He concluded with a powerful call to action: “Let us all rise to the task. Register today, encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same, and keep your voter’s card safe. Remember, no PVC, no voice. Your vote, your future. PVC is power.”
