Ido-Eruwa Road: It Is Too Late For Governor Makinde To Shift Blame | Sola Abegunde

This morning, I woke up to a very funny propaganda by Governor Makinde’s e-rats.

They are trying to shift the blames for the failure of Governor Seyi Makinde to finish the rehabilitation of the 48klm Ido-Eruwa Road in seven years plus.

According to a worthless piece of paper being peddled on social Media by the funny fellows, the Deputy Governornorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Soji Adedeji should be blamed for the failure of Governor Seyi Makinde to rehabilitate the 48klm Ido-Eruwa Road!

Imagine that!!

Not only does this kind of narrative stands logic on its head, it defies common sense and could only be peddled by a dreanged mind.

I am from Eruwa in Ibarapa East Local Government Council and the said Road hits Ibarapa Land through New Eruwa in Ibarapa East, where I come from.

I know of a fact that, by the time Governor Makinde took over from the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, the rehabilitation of the Road had reached Okolo village, remaining just less than 8 klm to New Eruwa and Contractors were on site as at the time Governor Makinde took over from Ajimobi, just as Contractors were on site at the Moniya-Iseyin road, a contract Governor Makinde later cancelled and re-awarded.

From 2019 when Governor Makinde took over as Governor, he neglected to complete the job from Okolo village to New Eruwa and also watched as the completed portion began to deteriorate.

Every plea to Governor Makinde to rehabilitate the Road by the Ibarapa Communities fell on deaf ears until he was forced to award a new contract for the rehabilitation of the 48klm of the total stretch from Ido in 2023.

The contracts he awarded in 2023 for just 12 out of the 48klm of the Road failed and just recently, the Governor has re-awarded another contract for the rehabilitation of the road.

A couple of days ago, the Oyo state House of Assembly approved a hundred billion Naira loan request for Governor Seyi Makinde and one of the contracts tied to the loan request is the Ido-Eruwa Road project.

So, where does Hon. Soji Adedeji come into this picture?

Sometimes, those who think they are defending Governor Seyi Makinde used to make him look funny.

This man has been Governor of Oyo state since 2019. The Ido-Eruwa Road has been calling for his attention since that time.

During the Coronation ceremony for his puppet, Samuel Adebayo Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Governor Seyi Makinde, out of frustration, even pleaded that if he couldn’t finish the rehabilitation of the project in question, he must not be allowed to enter Eruwa.

Governor Makinde had accepted responsibilities for his failures. What is now the business of political jobbers?

How could anyone in his right senses wake up in the twilight of the Administration of Seyi Makinde and expect us to hold someone else responsible for the failures of the Governor on the Ido-Eruwa Road, most especially, when Governor Makinde has accepted responsibilities for his failures?

Even, if you’re given worthless materials to use, shouldn’t you apply common sense, so that you won’t look stupid?

It is too late to cry when the head is off the neck. It is too late to look for scape goats who would take Governor Makinde’s fall for his failures as Governor.

No one in his right senses would give credence to a narrative that just surfaced online after seven years of deceitful scripts written by Governor Seyi Makinde on the Ido-Eruwa Road.

Sola Abegunde.
