Oyo APC National Assembly Reconciliation Committee Submits Findings, Expresses Confidence in Party’s 2027 Prospects

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY RECONCILIATION COMMITTEE MEDIA BRIEFING
Gentlemen of the Press,
I warmly welcome you all to this media briefing of the National Assembly Reconciliation Committee, under the distinguished chairmanship of Chief Akin Oke and the co-chairmanship of Prince Niran Adeyoju.
Following the reconciliation meetings held across the various Federal Constituencies and Senatorial Districts in Oyo State, the National Assembly Reconciliation Committee engaged extensively with party leaders, aspirants, delegates, elders, stakeholders and members of our great party to address matters arising from the recently concluded party primaries and to foster unity ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
As a Committee, we conducted this assignment with fearlessness, openness, mutual respect, fairness and sincerity of purpose. Throughout the exercise, stakeholders who interacted with the Committee were given the opportunity to freely express their concerns, grievances, expectations and recommendations on issues capable of strengthening and repositioning the party.
It was particularly encouraging to witness the tremendous and remarkable demonstration of loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the state. Despite the concerns and grievances expressed by various stakeholders, there was a strong and collective determination to preserve the unity of the party and reposition it for electoral success in 2027.
The Committee therefore presents the following key observations, appeals and recommendations:
GENERAL OBSERVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
- Institutionalisation of Rotational Candidacy
Stakeholders overwhelmingly advocated for the formal adoption and strict implementation of rotational candidacy among Local Governments and political zones where such arrangements are established.
They maintained that existing zoning and rotational arrangements should be properly documented and institutionalised as official party policy. This, in their view, will promote fairness, equity, inclusiveness and mutual trust, while reducing avoidable tension during future electoral cycles.
- Transparent and Democratic Emergence of Candidates
Party stakeholders appealed that candidates should continue to emerge through transparent, credible and democratic primary elections, consistent with the progressive ideals and traditions of the party.
They further emphasised that primaries should be preceded by adequate consultation with party leaders, stakeholders, aspirants and other relevant actors to ensure that emerging candidates enjoy broad acceptance within the party.
- Inclusion of Aspirants in Party Affairs
Stakeholders appealed that aspirants who have made significant sacrifices in the overall interest of the party should not be abandoned after the conclusion of primaries.
The Committee recommends that deserving and committed aspirants should be considered for political appointments, campaign responsibilities, advisory positions, party assignments and other strategic responsibilities, both within the party and in future government.
Such inclusion will demonstrate that loyalty, sacrifice and commitment to the party are recognised and valued.
- Sustained Engagement and Reward for Loyalty
The Committee recommends sustained engagement between candidates, elected officials and party leadership at all levels in order to promote confidence, accountability, inclusion and unity.
The Committee further assures members across the state that a credible reward system based on commitment, loyalty, competence, political inclusion and recognition should form an important part of the new direction of the party.
No committed party member should feel forgotten or excluded after contributing to the growth and success of the organisation.
- Transparent and Progressive Party Management
The National Assembly Reconciliation Committee urges all members, stakeholders, leaders and executives of the party to continue to uphold the principles of transparency, fairness, consultation and responsible party management.
These values represent the ideals of the progressive movement and the legacy of our founding fathers. The strength of the APC will continue to depend on its ability to operate as an inclusive political family where members are heard, respected and given a sense of belonging.
- Genuine and Continuous Reconciliation
Stakeholders emphasised that reconciliation must not be treated as a one-off exercise.
The Committee therefore recommends that reconciliation should become a continuous and institutionalised process, involving aspirants, candidates, party executives, elders, delegates, elected officials and grassroots leaders.
Deliberate efforts must continually be made to rebuild trust, address genuine grievances, restore confidence and strengthen relationships among members.
The objective is not merely to resolve the disagreements arising from the last primaries, but to build a stronger, more united and more inclusive APC capable of delivering electoral victory in 2027 and beyond.
CONCLUSION
The National Assembly Reconciliation Committee expresses its profound appreciation to all party leaders, aspirants, delegates, elders, stakeholders and members who received the Committee and openly shared their perspectives throughout the exercise.
The Committee was encouraged by the level of commitment demonstrated by stakeholders and, most importantly, by the prevailing determination to keep the APC united and competitive.
We believe that reconciliation, inclusion, fairness and internal democracy are not signs of weakness; they are the foundations upon which a strong and victorious political party is built.
We therefore call on all members to put the interests of the party above individual differences, embrace genuine reconciliation, and work collectively towards a stronger and more united APC in Oyo State.
With the efforts of the National Assembly Reconciliation Committee across the State, the Party is now stronger, united and better coordinated, with a renewed determination for victory in the 2027 elections.
We are confident of delivering victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our Gubernatorial Candidate, Barrister Sarafadeen Abiodun Ali, all our Senatorial, Federal House of Representatives and House of Assembly Candidates in January and February 2027.
The journey to victory in 2027 must begin with unity today.
