NPFL Banishes Shooting Stars from Adamasingba Stadium over Poor Pitch

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has barred Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) from using the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, for league matches.
In a letter dated 30 January 2026 and addressed to the club’s chairman, the NPFL said the stadium is no longer suitable to host NPFL fixtures, following recent broadcast and television rights arrangements by the league.
The letter, signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, directed Shooting Stars to select an alternative home venue between the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, and the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
3SC were given until Monday, 2 February 2026, to respond, failing which the league will allocate a venue on their behalf.
The decision effectively sidelines the historic Adamasingba Stadium from NPFL action, with pitch condition and broadcast standards believed to be central to the league’s action.
