Jubilation in Ogbomoso as Emperor Idogbe Foundation Awards Bursaries to Over 160 Indigenous Students

There was widespread jubilation across students’ communities in Ogbomoso as the Emperor Mathew Idogbe Foundation awarded bursary stipends to over 160 indigenous students drawn from the five local government areas of Ogbomoso.
The bursary programme, spearheaded by Emperor Mathew Idogbe, a former National President of the Federation of Ogbomoso Students’ Union (FOGSU), followed a transparent process that included public announcements, shortlisting, and screening of applicants. The initiative was designed to ease the financial burden on students and encourage them to remain focused on their academic pursuits, particularly during the Yuletide season.
The programme was carried out in conjunction with the National Council of the Federation of Ogbomoso Students’ Union, with members of the union’s national executives present at the event to observe and ensure the credibility of the entire process. Their presence further reinforced the transparency and integrity of the bursary exercise.
Speaking on the intervention, Emperor Idogbe explained that the foundation was established to give back to the community that nurtured him, with education identified as a key pillar for sustainable development. He noted that many students face financial challenges that threaten their education, adding that the bursary support was designed to provide timely relief and renewed motivation.
Beneficiary students expressed deep appreciation to the foundation, describing the support as a morale booster that would help them meet essential academic needs and reduce pressure on their families. Many also commended the transparent selection process and called on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate the gesture.
The bursary distribution by the Emperor Mathew Idogbe Foundation has been widely applauded by community members and student leaders, who described the initiative as a meaningful investment in the future of Ogbomoso and a clear demonstration of commitment to youth development and educational advancement.
