Oriire Youth Council Meets Hon. Bamigboye, Unveils Week-Long PVC-Drive Initiative

Yesterday, the Oriire Youth Council held a strategic meeting with Hon. Jacob Bamigboye, former Chairman of Oriire Local Government and former Member representing Oriire State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly. The meeting, held in continuation of the Council’s post-#OriireFirst Stakeholders Summit at Jegbe Town Hall, Ikoyi-Ile, marked the official unveiling of the timetable for the Council’s one-week PVC Drive across the 10 wards of Oriire Local Government.

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Bamigboye commended the Oriire Youth Council for its “proactiveness and non-partisan integrity,” describing the initiative as people-oriented and capable of attracting long overdue development to the local government.

“Since your agenda and efforts are not political or selfish in nature, I will do everything within my capacity to support this work. I believe Oriire will be great if we sustain this kind of commitment,” he said.

He further advised the Council to explore providing on-site assistance for online voter registration during the exercise.

Highlighting Hon. Bamigboye’s track record, Council Ex-Officio 1, Joshua Ojo Aderemi, recalled that during Bamigboye’s tenure as Chairman in 2013, students were given Bursary, he also established and equipped the Oriire Vocational Training Centre, empowering graduates in tailoring, barbing, hairdressing, welding, and computer studies with over ₦5 million worth of start-up tools and machines.

“Sadly, since his exit from office, the initiative has been abandoned and is now moribund. This PVC Drive is part of our effort to reignite civic responsibility and development-focused leadership in Oriire,” Ojo lamented.

National Chairman of the Oriire Youth Council, Sarafadeen Isiaq Owonikoko, described the PVC Drive as a direct follow-up to the Stakeholders Summit, aimed at ensuring eligible citizens are registered and prepared for active participation in governance.

“Our focus is simple—empower the people, strengthen democracy, and make Oriire visible at the state level,” he stated.

National PRO, Ajadi Isaac Oluwasegun, emphasized that the exercise is deliberately structured to reach markets, churches, artisan groups, and transport hubs.

“This calendar is not just a schedule—it’s a roadmap to inclusive participation,” he noted.

The unveiled PVC Drive timetable is as follows:
