Ibadan Southwest 1 Assembly Candidate, Tolani Adigun Sympathizes with Bode Market Traders Over Devastating Fire

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly candidate for Ibadan Southwest Constituency I, Hon. Tolani Adigun, has expressed deep sympathy to traders and business owners affected by the recent fire outbreak that ravaged Bode Market in Ibadan.

In a statement made available to journalists, Tolani described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy, noting that Bode Market represents more than a commercial hub, but also a vital part of the cultural and economic heritage of the people.

She lamented the losses suffered by traders whose goods and means of livelihood were destroyed in the inferno, stating that the incident has left many families facing uncertainty and hardship.

“Bode Market is not just a place of trade; it is a symbol of our heritage, culture, and the resilience of generations who have sustained families through the traditional medicine business. To see it reduced to ashes is a tragedy that weighs heavily on us all,” she said.

The assembly hopeful expressed solidarity with the victims, assuring them that they are not alone in their moment of grief and difficulty. She urged residents and stakeholders to rally support for those affected as efforts are made to recover from the disaster.

According to her, while the fire may have destroyed physical structures and valuable goods, it cannot extinguish the spirit, determination, and resilience of the people who depend on the market for their survival.

Tolani further called for collective action towards rebuilding the market and restoring economic activities, expressing confidence that the traders would overcome the setback through unity and perseverance.

She prayed for divine comfort for those affected and appealed to relevant authorities and well-meaning individuals to provide necessary assistance to help victims get back on their feet.

The fire incident, which destroyed several shops and properties within the popular market, has sparked widespread concern among residents and business owners in the area.
