Fayose, Makinde And ” Ile Oosa” || Sola Abegunde
The tortoise decided to go on a journey and when his neighbors demanded to know when he would return from the journey, the tortoise answered, ” not until I have been disgraced”.
I have come to realize that there are some people whose Stars can not operate alone.
They need people to push them. The type of people we refer to as ” Destiny helpers” in Christiandom.
It is a general belief, that when you eventually met with your Destiny helpers and they assisted your destiny, you should treat them with reverence, respect and dignity but I do not think Governor Makinde respects such beliefs.
I have been watching with keen interests, the recent controversy between a former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.
I know that Fayose is not done, therefore, I decided to sit back and watch the drama as they keep unfolding.
I saw that Governor Seyi Makinde’s supporters have been very active, cursing and calling Fayose all manner of unprintable names.
As usual, those who usually support Governor Seyi Makinde in this type of situations always surrender to emotions.
They will abandon logic and go on a voyage of emotional outbursts and blackmail.
I usually don’t see much, if anything at all, to react to each time I saw their videos and read their watery defense of Governor Seyi Makinde.
However this morning, I saw a repost of the video of Auxiliary and his thugs at Osogbo where Auxiliary was cursing and threatening Ayodele Fayose during a South West Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP back in 2023 and I asked myself whether those who are attacking Fayose now have forgotten that unfortunate episode.
I had earlier seen a video of Isaac Fayose, Ayodele Fayose’s junior brother, who is currently having issues with his elder brother, Ayo Fayose.
Isaac had said in the video that, though, he has issues with his elder brother presently, but in the case of Makinde and Fayose, he is solidly behind his elder brother, Ayo Fayose.
He talked about the series of assistance that the Fayoses rendered to Seyi Makinde before he, Makinde became Governor of Oyo state in 2019.
Isaac Fayose’s video was not enough to move me to action, I must admit.
Not because he didn’t make sense but just because everything he said are no longer News to me and discerning members of the public.
However, this morning I saw a Facebook video of one online content creator, under the Facebook page of ” Aditu Iwa” and his submissions moved me to action.
The gentleman was sounding a note of warning to Ibadan based Fuji Musician, Taye Currency.
He warned Currency not to romance anyone who is politically opposed to Governor Seyi Makinde because, according to him, if Currency is not careful, it will take Seyi Makinde nothing to destroy everything he made through his association with the Oyo state Governor.
I completely agree with him.
He went further to cite the examples of Mukaila Auxiliary, Oriyomi Hamzat and Suraju Ilupeju, people who had worked with Governor Seyi Makinde in the past but who are now being haunted by the same Governor Makinde.
Is the gentleman not making sense? I bet he is.
Let us go back to the Makinde – Fayose feud.
Before he became Governor of Oyo in 2019, Seyi Makinde was very close to Ayodele Fayose.
A lot of people have talked about how Fayose used his influence to rally support for Seyi Makinde and Governor Makinde has never denied this claims.
However, immediately Seyi Makinde became Governor, the relationship between the duo became sour and it was reported that the bone of contention was a disagreement on who gets what during the South West Convention of the PDP at the time.
From my findings, a former Commissioner and one time Senator in Oyo state who wielded some influence in Makinde’s Government between 2019 and 2023 was allegedly the one who told Governor Seyi Makinde to take over control of the PDP from Fayose.
It was alleged that the former Senator told Makinde that, being the only Governor under the PDP from the South West at the time, it was Makinde’s entitlement to be the Leader of the PDP in the South West.
You will recollect that during Governor Ayodele Fayose’s second term as Governor of Ekiti state, he remained the only opposition voice against the Government of the late president Muhammadu Buhari and the APC.
Fayose was such a thorn in the flesh of Buhari and the APC at the time, that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC could not wait for him to finish his term before extending an invitation to him.
You will also recollect how Fayose stormed the headquarters of the EFCC wearing a T-shirt with the inscriptions, ” EFCC, here I come” a couple days after his tenure as Governor of Ekiti state expired.
Take it, or leave it, Fayose earned his flowers as a formidable opposition figure in his time as second term Governor of Ekiti state and thereafter.
For me, even if Makinde had wanted to heed the advice purportedly offered him by the former Senator, he ought to have been civil and circumspect, most especially, considering the contributions of Fayose to his electoral success and his overall support for the PDP when no one dared to speak against the Government of Buhari and the APC.
Like I said, I saw a repost of the Coup against Fayose at Osogbo during the PDP Convention and I felt pity for Fayose.
Auxiliary practically invaded Osogbo on that day accompanied by hundreds of thugs and their mission was clear, embarrass Fayose out of the venue for the Convention and only God knows whether they had instructions to physically attack, maim or kill Fayose on that day because, on camera, Auxiliary passed that dangerous message with a gesture that implied slaughter.
Imagine how Fayose would have felt on that fateful day!
A two term former Governor of Ekiti state being embarrassed by an ex convict, who was at the time an appointee of Governor Seyi Makinde, whom Fayose assisted to become Governor.
Fayose was packaged out of the Convention venue, assisted by the police and under heavy gunfire from Auxiliary and his thugs!
Who could have taken such crude insults and humiliation in silence?
Interestingly, the former Senator who allegedly advised Governor Makinde on that line of action has also been served his breakfast by Governor Seyi Makinde.
He is currently in the All Progressives Congress APC after being betrayed by the Governor.
There was a time I said that if an unborn baby could offend Governor Seyi Makinde, he will look for an appropriate time and punishment for the baby, even if it requires waiting for the baby to be born.
I also said that the Governor of Oyo state, judging by the way he has been turning against those who helped him to be politically successful, is incapable of sustaining a relationship without betraying trusts.
The list is endless.
Hon. Mulikat Adeola Akande, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, his erstwhile Deputy, Hosea Ayoola, aka Alleluyah, Oriyomi Hamzat, Mukaila Auxiliary, Suraju Ilupeju, presently, Col. Togun, the immediate past Director general of the Oyo state Amotekun Corp has been talking.
Senator Femi Lanlehin, Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli and majority of those who sacrificed their personal ambitions to support him in 2019.
Governor Seyi Makinde even betrayed former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and I am surprised that a lot of people are castigating Fayose for mentioning the name of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadan Land.
Can anyone play down the contributions of Ladoja to the success of Seyi Makinde in 2019?
Is the Governor fair to the Olubadan? Is he?
Yes, the respected Monarch is not going to say anything but that does not remove the fact that Seyi Makinde was totally unfair to him and if Fayose says anything from that background, why should anyone castigate him?
I was informed a couple of days ago that the Governor’s Advisory Council is allegedly in turmoil.
As we gradually approach the 2027 general election, Governor Makinde is frantically searching for fresh alignments but he hasn’t been able to secure any concrete agreements with politicians of repute and he won’t have any.
His penchant for betrayal will not allow him to attract any serious partners.
A couple of days ago, I saw our funny friend, Michael Ogunsina trying to disparage a former Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Amb. Taofik Arapaja.
I was surprised to see the funny fellow wearing a T-shirt bearing the logo of the Allied Peoples’ Movement, APM for the first time.
I thought he’s claiming to be the Public Relations Officer of the PDP?
What has changed? Who told him he should stop fooling himself by referring to himself as the PRO of the PDP?
What Governor Makinde will do to the sensibilities of some people will be so terrible to the extent that, when he finished with them, they won’t remember their father’s name.
It was Governor Seyi Makinde who nominated Ambassador Taofik Arapaja, first, as Deputy National Chairman, South, of the PDP and later, as National Secretary of the same party.
Even after the Supreme Court had ruled against the National Working Committee, NWC, led by both Turaki and Arapaja, Governor Makinde kept pushing them on against the judgment of the Supreme Court and Ogunsina was defending this illegality until now.
Now that Amb. Arapaja is claiming to have been nominated under the Turaki led ” PDP” as Gubernatorial candidate and Governor Seyi Makinde had nominated Bimbo Adekambi in the APM, the same Michael Ogunsina is still the one saying that Arapaja is wasting his time!
What a peculiar mess! What of the time they wasted together?
Is Ogunsina telling us now that Governor Seyi Makinde has turned his back on Turaki and others?
Anyway, I can not be surprised if he has. That’s what he often does.
I will like to round up this piece by saying that the political journey towards 2027 is not going to be a pleasant one for the Governor of Oyo state.
He has exhausted all the tricks in his bag.
He will be able to attract and recruit some hungry politicians here and there but he will not attract any serious Group or politician to his side.
There are consequences for betrayal and the time has come for Governor Seyi Makinde to reap the fruits of his serial betrayals of prominent politicians and regular allies of the past.
Fayose is correct. A congregation of amateurs will defeat even, the greatest of champions. ( Agbarijo ope ma npa ota).
It does look like the Deities will reclaim their parcel of land from Governor Seyi Makinde.
Sola Abegunde.
