Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi
CoS to Oyo State Government.

As we approach another political season, I find it necessary to bring clarity to an issue that has lingered over time, not out of sentiment, but in the interest of truth, accountability, and proper public record.

This reflection is drawn from my time as Senate President, 2017, under the Federation of Ogbomoso Students Union, National Council.

During that period, the independence of the student union was something I consciously protected. We maintained a clear position that the student union must remain apolitical, serving the interest of students without external influence.

At a point during that administration, a bus was publicly presented and handed over to the student union. The leadership of the Senate and the Executive Council were present. It was branded in the name of the union and publicly acknowledged as a contribution to the student body.

At that time, there was no ambiguity β€” it was received as a union asset.

However, towards the end of that administration, during the transition process, a different narrative emerged. It was then stated that the bus was not given to the union, but to an individual (President).

This position became even more pronounced when issues arose, including reports that the bus had been sold, and the matter escalated to a police intervention. At that point, it was clearly affirmed that the bus belonged to an individual and not to the union.

That clarification settled the matter.

It is therefore concerning that, in the present political season, this same vehicle is now being referenced and projected as part of achievements made for the student body through Adediran Gideon Aduramigba profile.

This creates a contradiction.
If it was established that the bus was not a union asset, then presenting it today as a contribution to the union does not align with the earlier position.

This is where the question arises:
What kind of politics presents as achievement what has already been clarified otherwise?

This is not a question of attack, but a question of consistency.

Because when records are reinterpreted to suit different moments, it weakens public trust and creates confusion about what truly happened.

This reflection is therefore a call for alignment.

That public representations should remain consistent with established facts.
That achievements should reflect verifiable realities.
And that leadership communication should be guided by accuracy, not convenience.

Leadership is not only about what is done, but also about how truthfully it is presented.

As we move forward, it is my belief that consistency in words and actions will always stand as the foundation of credible leadership.

Signed,
Olajide David Olatubosun
Senate President, 2017/18
Federation of Ogbomoso Students Union, National Council.
