Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan has officially resigned from his position as Chairman of the Governing Council of Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.

The resignation, which takes effect from March 23, 2026, was conveyed in a formal letter addressed to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation at the Presidency, Abuja. In the letter, Olaniyan stated that his decision aligns with directives requiring political appointees with aspirations ahead of the 2027 general elections to step down, in compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, noting that it was a privilege to contribute to the growth and development of the institution during his tenure.

Olaniyan also recommended Barrister (Mrs.) Inime Aguma as his successor in an acting capacity, citing her competence and commitment to sustaining the council’s objectives.

In his parting remarks, he appreciated the management, staff, and students of the college for their support throughout his time in office.

The development is seen as part of early political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with more resignations from public office holders expected in the coming months.
