Akala’s Four-Year Remembrance: Former Aide, Prince Wasiu Olukan Empowers 50 Party Members in Ogbomoso

Four years after the passing of former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, his legacy of compassion, grassroots empowerment, and people-centred leadership continues to resonate strongly across Ogbomoso and beyond.

In honour of the late political icon, a former Personal Assistant to the ex-governor, Alhaji Prince Wasiu Olukan, on Monday marked Akala’s four-year remembrance with a remarkable gesture of generosity and solidarity. The event, which held in his Personal Emirate Office in Ojagbo, Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, saw the distribution of ₦500,000 to 50 party members, with each beneficiary receiving financial support as a token of empowerment.

Speaking during the programme, Prince Wasiu Olukan expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to have worked closely with the late governor, describing Akala as a “helper of destiny” whose impact on his life and political journey remains unforgettable.

“Akala was a God-sent helper to me,” Olukan said emotionally. “The lessons I learned under his leadership are enormous. I am always proud to say I was trained by such a great man. His belief in people, especially those at the grassroots, shaped my understanding of leadership and service.”

He noted that the empowerment initiative was not merely an act of charity, but a continuation of the values and political philosophy of the late governor, who was widely known for his commitment to uplifting party loyalists and ordinary citizens alike.

According to him, Otunba Alao-Akala’s contributions to the political development of Ogbomoso and the broader progress of Oyo State remain indelible, stressing that his legacy of kindness, mentorship, and grassroots politics cannot be erased by time.

“Even in death, his impact lives on,” Olukan added. “This remembrance is a reminder that we must continue to support one another, just as he did while he was alive.”

Party members and beneficiaries at the event commended Prince Olukan for sustaining Akala’s legacy of empowerment and loyalty, describing the gesture as timely and reflective of true progressive values.
